Winemaker
Trevor Durling grew up in Sonoma County, at the heart of Northern California’s wine country, where wine was a staple at his family dinner table. After a brief time as an undergraduate at Davis, however, he enrolled in an introduction to winemaking class and was immediately enamoured. Trevor realized that winemaking united his love of agriculture, science and cuisine, and transferred to the UC Viticulture and Oenology program. At Beaulieu Vineyard, Trevor presides as only the fifth chief winemaker in the winery’s 117-year history, following esteemed previous chief winemaker Jeffrey Stambor. Respectful of and humbled by BV’s storied history, Trevor joins the winemaking team keenly aware of his role shaping the winery’s future. “I’m honoured to begin this new role at Beaulieu at such an exciting and pivotal time—entering a new chapter of growth and relevance in today’s market and culture—while preserving BV’s rich heritage and legacy.”
About the Winery
In 1938, Georges de Latour travelled to France’s Pasteur Institute to recruit a winemaker and viticulturist to bring his expertise to Rutherford in Napa Valley. Andre Tchelistcheff, a Russian emigrant joined Beaulieu Vineyard. His experience, insights and leadership revolutionized not only Beaulieu Vineyard but the entire Napa Valley wine industry. His pursuit of higher wine quality and continuous innovation earned him the industry’s most famous title ‘The Maestro’. To this day Andre is widely considered the father of the California wine industry, influencing many changes.
