Red Wines Summer 2024
Please note that we may have to occasionally substitute a wine due to stock availability, but rest assured we will ensure an exquisite alternative is used in its place.
Les Légendes St Émilion 2018
Deep ruby-red colour with superb brightness. Intense and complex nose, with jammy aromas (strawberry, blackberry and Morello cherry), sweet spicy notes (vanilla, caramel) and discrete notes of truffle. After a persistent attack on the palate, the wine develops with noticeable rich and ripe tannins, making way for a long and flavourful finish.
Ox Hardy Upper Tintara Vineyard Shiraz 2018
Inky blackberry aromas, fresh redcurrant and raspberry on the nose, with a rich full juicy palate. Soft full tannins, a lovely concentration with a sweet and soft finish.
Marqués de Tomares Rioja Crianza 2019
Marques de Tomares Crianza is aged for 12 months in French and American barrels, and a further year gently resting in the cellars after bottling. The hand-harvested blend of 90% Tempranillo & 10% Graciano brings a core of red cherry fruit which is supple and soft. There’s a touch of warm earthy spice and vanilla which adds complexity to this overtly fruity Rioja. This is the epitome of a young Rioja, fresh, vibrant and packed with spicy red fruit.
Akarua Pinot Noir 2021
Akarua, meaning 'two vines' in Māori, represents the two varieties originally planted in the area in 1996: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This 100% Pinot Noir is able to be enjoyed now, but has fantastic cellaring potential (10+ years).
Los Vascos Cromas Syrah Gran Reserva 2019
Purple color with violet hues. Expressive nose of flowers, especially violets, packed with layers of red fruits like fresh plums and figs, and spices like black pepper and anise. Subtle oak aromas over a backdrop of graphite, tobacco, and cedar. Its delightful palate presence of balanced acidity, fine-grain tannins, excellent volume, perfect body, and long finish evidences its huge potential and hints a delicate and elegant evolution. A wine that takes you on a journey through the slopes of Los Vascos estate.
Château d'Anglès Grand Vin Rouge 2016
Deep red colour with hints of black. Complex bouquet with a blend of ripe red and black fruits, spices, liquorice and tobacco flavours highlighted by the typical minty touch of La Clape. Full-bodied and elegant mouth structured by dense and remarkably silky tannins. Great length endowed with a nice freshness.
Waddesdon Rothschild Collection Merlot 2022
A dark robe with bright red reflections. Spicy notes with eucalyptus and red fruit aromas on the nose. Sweet fruits and mellow tannins on the palate.
Château Paradis Casseuil 2018
Beautiful, deep crimson-purple colour. Intense, complex nose, combining scents of spices and ripe fruit with subtle oaky notes. Full, rich and balanced on the palate, this wine has a fresh, aromatic finish.
Aruma 2022
The robe is intense with a deep red colour. The nose reveals aromas of plum and red fruit. On the palate, the wine is round and fresh with remarkable balance between tannins, acidity and alcohol. Long, delicate finish.
Rupert & Rothschild Classique 2020
This is the first vintage to include Cabernet Franc in the blend, which lifts the texture making for a more elegant wine, although Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon still dominate the assemblage. This is Classique at it’s very best and after 16 months in French oak and a few years in the bottle this vintage is singing! A complex and smoky nose starts off with roasted coffee, cassis, black cherry and earthy spice. The palate is medium to full bodied with seamless tannins and just enough acidity to retain freshness. There’s ripeness and richness on the palate, but it’s not overworked; it’s balanced and very well made.
Penfolds Max's Shiraz Cabernet 2021
A salinity – perhaps best described as salted plum. Coolness/flowing texture. Spearmint tea (fresh leaves) and lavender. Graphite from the nose continues as a theme on the palate, Black olive tapenade. Ylang Ylang, powdery-style tannins that are tapered on the palate. All clearly converging to a well-defined point.
Altan d'Aussières Corbières 2020
A beautiful concentration of fruit and aromas, Altan d'Aussières is a generous, full-bodied wine that offers a complex palette of flavours from deep within the identity of our terroir, with scents of the garrigue (broom, rock rose), and aromatic herbs (thyme, sage, juniper and rosemary). The batches produced by carbonic maceration give the blend a creamy, velvety and yet firm structure, with an aromatic palette of fresh, very ripe fruit (crushed berries, strawberries). This complex mosaic is easily identifiable, constituting the very specific Corbières identity marker that we wanted to bring out with the techniques used in Altan’s production. Altan d'Aussières thus offers a harmonious expression from the moment it is opened and does not need further bottle ageing.
